Valentine’s Day Gift Wrap Idea

Before that special someone discovers what's inside, the gift wrap on your Valentine's Day present can warm their hearts. That's especially true when your present comes in gift wrap that you made yourself. Follow this simple tutorial to make your Valentine's Day gift truly one-of-a-kind.

Materials:

  • Solid red gift wrap
  • Scissors
  • Card stock
  • Pencil
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Scotch tape
  • 1 or 2 sheets of glitter paper

Step 1: Prep your paper.

Place the gift on the wrapping paper and measure out the amount needed to completely cover the gift. Cut the paper and set the box aside.

Step 2: Add hearts.

Create a heart template with a piece of cardstock. You can draw one yourself or print one via an online graphic. Then, using a pencil, trace half of the heart on the paper in a few random spots.

Step 3: Cut out the lines.

With an X-Acto knife, trace over each of your half heart lines.

Step 4: Open things up.

Using the X-Acto knife, score the hearts down the center. Then, fold each heart along the crease to create flaps in the wrapping paper.

Step 5: Add some smiles.

Tape Wallet Prints behind some of the cutouts.

Step 6: Make it sparkle.

Tape trimmed pieces of glitter paper behind the remaining cutouts.

Step 7: Wrap things up.

Wrap the gift with your personalized paper and get ready to touch your valentine's heart.

Bonus Holiday Tip: This idea can also be used to create a fun Valentine's Day card box for a classroom exchange. Just finish things off by cutting a slot in the top after your empty box has been wrapped.
